About me
It was touch and go for a minute there!
I’m Jack Chitty - a self-taught brand designer completely obsessed with creative problem-solving.
Despite eventually finding my forever-career, my path to get here was anything but straightforward.
Growing up, I spent all of my time creating stuff; from abstract artwork to super embarrassing magic trick videos and everything else in between. I just loved bringing something to life from scratch. I think during this time is where I developed a good ability for figuring out how to teach myself things by trial and error.
Fast forward to university where I started (and failed) several creative-led businesses, my obsession for creating only grew. Throughout this period, I developed some foundational skills in branding, such as logo design, apparel graphics and web design.
After graduating with a degree in English Language & Linguistics, I thought that advertising was surely the path for me. It combined my love for creativity with communication. No brainer. Despite having a great time working there, the job itself wasn’t nearly creative enough to scratch that itch.
During this time, I had a brain aneurysm that forced me to reevaluate everything. I knew I wasn’t on the right career path because I spent most of the workweek wishing for the weekend. It was no way to live. Thankfully, in between surgeries, I had a bunch of time to contemplate my life up until that point. The good, the bad and the ugly. It wasn’t until I was brought out of an induced coma to grant permission for my final surgery that I promised myself, if I survived, I would dedicate the rest of my life to doing the thing I love.
Through the selfless work of the mind-bendingly talented consultants, surgeons and nurses, I survived and made a full recovery.
After the long winding road of self-education, a bunch of rejections, failures and lessons, I find myself living my dream, working for myself with amazing people all around the world.
Being fortunate enough to run my own studio, I get to run it however I’d like. I choose to focus my processes and projects around communication, transparency and collaboration. If these values resonate with you, hit me up - let’s chat!
