Restore is an upmarket, environmentally conscious skincare brand. The brief was direct from the outset, wanting to have a custom logotype with an element they can extract and use in other branded collateral. They liked the idea of leaves but were keen to steer away from cliché executions.

The idea

As Restore is an upmarket brand, I really didn’t want to fall into the trap of other eco-friendly brands and force very obvious leaf designs or aggressive green hues down the customers’ throats. I wanted to be more subtle. After the initial ideas and idea development stages of my process, I came up with this wicked custom R which combined the standard letterform with a leaf to create a really unique and ownable brand asset whilst also being rather subtle. I then tweaked and mismatched several different sans-serif typefaces to create the rest of the logotype and bosh! There you have it!

Colour palette

As mentioned in the brief, I was instructed not to be too cliché. I believed this to be true for the colour palette too as Restore didn’t want to be accused of green-washing. I was able to navigate neatly around this by using a really rich, deep green hue which leant closer to the blue ends of the spectrum. Pairing this with an earthy off-white made the brand feel high-end yet approachable.
